About Blue Alice

Crafted by designer Kara Gibson-Guyitt’s desire to create a unique design experience, every Blue Alice project starts with a focus on relationship building. Kara enjoys taking the time to get to know her clients, build a connection and establish trust to ensure the homeowner’s vision will be expertly designed and professionally executed.

Based in Kelowna and with a focus on residential renovations and new-home design, Kara’s approach is to have her clients involved in the process early on. Together, they explore their ultimate creative vision while Kara brings her years of experience and knowledge to the design. The goal of every single project is to encourage each client to live their best lives in their homes.

And why the name Blue Alice?

As with all her design projects, Kara has a personal connection to it. Alice was Kara’s grandma – a businesswoman before her time in the fashion industry. And blue is an elemental colour that inspires Kara – from the lake and the sky to the new denim shirt in her closet.

About Designer, Kara

Designer – Wife – Mom – Golfer – Denim Shirt Lover

Kara discovered her passion for design and creativity early on.

When she began college with the intent of being a sports psychologist, she soon realized that would never give her a creative outlet. She read the course guide for “Interior Design & Architecture” and changed her path; it has led to a fulfilling career spanning two provinces and 17 years. After 12 years at a local design firm and most recently as Head Designer of Love It or List It Vancouver Season 5, Kara’s new venture is designed and planned with love.

She finds inspiration in everything around her: sunsets, water, travel, family. Her designs range in style from modern to farmhouse to rustic, all based on her client’s desire. When she’s not designing, she cherishes time with her son, Witten, and husband, Jason, and enjoys golf, travel and reading.
